Seasonal drought conditions are a fact of life for many gardeners. Fortunately, we grow a wide selection of drought-tolerant plants for your garden that conserve water and look beautiful at the same time.
Xeriscaping, also known as gardening in a water-efficient conservational way, helps to keep your landscape looking good without using a lot of water. By using certain plants in your yard, you can reduce your water consumption and save money and the environment at the same time.
Plants that can survive the heat and drought have adapted over time. Some plants have deep tap roots that seek out moisture in the soil when it gets hot and dry. Other drought-tolerant plants can hold moisture in their leaves.
Choose a variety of different drought-tolerant plants with interesting foliage, texture, structure, and shapes. This will help to create year-round interest in your garden while conserving water.
Many of these plants need well-draining soil because of their root structure. If needed, consider amending your soil by adding compost or pumice.
Another key to water-wise gardening is using drip lines or soaker hoses to water plants at the base instead of overhead sprinklers. Grouping plants with similar water requirements are also helpful.
