Our peonies are a popular must-have flower for any garden. These large flowers have crepe-like or ruffled petals. Peonies are long lasting and an ideal flower to add to your cutting garden. The flowers have single or double blooms and range in colors from purple and pink to red, white, or yellow. Peonies are native to Asia, Europe, and western North America.
Peonies provide fragrance and are pollinator friendly. These flowering plants are fairly low maintenance but like organically rich soil with good drainage. Plant in full sun, but some shade can be tolerated. Prune back peony stems to the ground level in the fall when they have turned brown. Peonies are a perennial, which means they will die back in the summer to fall months and push up new growth in the spring. Expect shoots to appear late winter-early spring. Blooms March-April.
